This basic version features a beautiful cartoon lion, large bubble tracing Ll’s, and the word ‘lion’ that children can trace. This is the easiest option for Pre-K children who still need to develop their basic pen grip and hand-eye coordination.

This dot-tracing version replaces the colored lion image with a tracable lion. Students can still trace the large L’s, then further practice their penmanship and fine-motor skills by tracing around the lion’s mane.

This version focuses on linking letters into a sentence. The sentence is intentionally large for pre-k students to continue to refine their pen skills. See later versions for smaller letter and word formations for kindergarten and up.

Another option for the lion mane tracing sheet, this one features the phrase “L is for lion.” This is the last of our pre-k practice sheets, before we move onto lined sheets with slightly smaller letters, and no more bubble letters.

This version introduces horizontal handwriting lines, which will be a feature of the rest of the sheets on this page. This one has students write uppercase and lowercase Ll forms in close proximity, with the intention that children will come to understand the two letter forms have the same semantic meaning.

This version has built-in progression on the one sheet. Students start with an uppercase L line, then a lowercase line, then two lines combining the two. Finally, children can practice putting the letter into a simple word: lion.
