Free Cursive Y Worksheets

This version is designed for students to experience progression all in a condensed single-page sheet. Students start with single letter practice, both uppercase and lowercase, then proceed to practicing two short words in cursive style: yak and yam.

Designed by Chris
This version is designed for rote learning of the lowercase cursive y, featuring the distinctive flick from the bottom of the y up toward the next letter. Students develop muscle memory of the stroke structure by repeating the letter 60 times on one page. Students can color-in the Yak image once they have finished.

For a practice word with a different follow-on letter, this worksheet offers the word “yolk”, which is practiced 24 times.

In this sheet, we combine all three key words from our previous practice sheets onto one test of mastery. Students write yak, yam, and yolk on two lines each, demonstrating the ability to use cursive y across multiple words. If students find this piece easy, it’s time to move onto full sentence practice in the next piece.
