In this first piece, students can experience progression from individual letter practice, with a focus on the lead-in and out of the cursive n. Then, we move onto writing simple words: nap and nail.
Designed by Chris
This version provides a concerted focus on individual letter practice, where students practice the lowercase n for three lines, then the uppercase version for three lines. The intention is for students to develop fluency in writing the individual letters through rote learning practice.

This is a version specifically designed for students who need practice with the capital N, where they will practice the letter 10 times on each line, for 60 times in total, with the intention of developing reflexive memory of the stroke pattern.
Designed by Chris
Our last sheet that focuses explicitly on individual letter practice, students write the capital and lowercase versions of the letter side-by-side across six lines, writing each letter 30 times in total, to build reflexive memory of stroke pattern.

For the next three worksheets, we focus on individual words. The first focus word is ‘nap’, with students focusing on linking the lowercase n to the lowercase a. When practicing the uppercase version, students remember they do not connect capital letters in cursive writing.
Designed by Chris
Our next focus in on the word “nail”, with students again transitioning from n to a, but continuing it onto two additional letters, without lifting the pen. Students practice this word 24 times with both uppercase and lowercase versions.

For our final focus letter, students practice the word ‘nut’ 27 times, this time with a transition from the n to the letter u. Students complete the word before returning back to cross the t.

Our final version that focuses on individual words combines the three words into one worksheet. Students practice nap, nail, and nut across six lines, demonstrating mastery of individual word writing in cursive style.

For our final two sheets, students get practice writing full cursive sentences using words beginning with n. The first sentence is short and written three times for repetition. This version also contains horizontal tracing lines as a guide for students. The sentences read: “The nail and nut are new.”

For our second full sentence, students are presented some challenging words with plenty of n’s. It reads: “Nestled neatly, a nest nurtures new nestlings noisily near nature’s nook.”
