This version is designed for students to experience progression all in a condensed single-page sheet. Students start with single letter practice then proceed to practicing two full words in cursive style: sun and sea.

This piece is for students to practice the lowercase s on repeat in order to rote learn the style, structure, and stroke of the letter. Students write the letter 11 times across each line for 6 full lines.

This piece complements the lowercase version (above). In this one, students practice the capital S letter 11 times across 6 lines, developing form and structure while also understanding that capitals do not connect to the follow-up letters.

In this version, students can practice both the uppercase and lowercase letters side-by-side to develop fluency in stroke structure and form. Students practice each letter 7 times per row across 6 total rows.

For the first of three pieces that practice full words, students work on the word “sun”, with a focus on connecting the lowercase s to the lowercase u.

For our second focus word for s practice, students write the word “star”, connecting the four letters all in one pen movement. Students then return to practice crossing the t.

The third and final practice word sheet provides a focus on the word “shoe”, practiced 18 times, so students can develop experience and fluency in following the penstroke.

In this sheet, we combine all three key words from our previous practice sheets onto one test of mastery. Students write sea, shoe, and sun on two lines each, demonstrating the ability to use cursive s across multiple words.

Once students have shown proficiency writing individual s-words, we can start to string them together to make full sentences. In this sentence, “The sun shines in summer”, students practice uniformity of size (using the horizontal tracing lines as a guide). They write the sentence three times.

In the final test of mastery, students write a difficult sentence with long words, with many s’s intertwined throughout. The word we practice is: “Silly sheep softly stroll through the sunny meadow every Sunday during summer.”
