Surprisingly, this page is the most popular of the set. Targeted at Pre-K students, the purpose of this one is to get children to view and memorize the number. They need to be able to differentiate the number from surrounding numbers. To do this, children are asked to color only the balloons that contain the target number.

This version contains a very large bubble number which takes up nearly the whole page. It’s designed for very beginners, but has been used by readers as a poster on Pre-K and Kindergarten walls as well. If you use it as a worksheet, encourage the child to trace the lines in the order suggested by the arrows, then trace the word at the bottom under the letter.

This worksheet starts with a large version of the number within a bubble outline. Children can trace inside the bubble, with stroke instructions provided to familiarize children with how to form the number. Then, they get the chance to trace the word to learn to spell the number’s word. This is followed by a row of numbers with tracing instructions, helping children to deepen their familiartity with the letter through practice. Lastly, children can color the number of balloons that correspond with the number.

Stepping up the difficulty level, we move onto writing the number repeatedly within horizontal handwriting lines. These lines help children maintain form and structure. Children still have the dotted letters to trace, but once children have mastered this, move onto the more difficult versions later in this piece without the dotted letters to follow.

In this worksheet, children begin by coloring the number of balloons that match the target number, reinforcing their understanding of counting and quantity. They then practice tracing the number across four lines with horizontal handwriting guides to build consistency, muscle memory, and familiarity with writing the number.

This version combines the word and the number on one worksheet. Children can trace the word, then the number, then the word, and so on, with the intention that by the time they complete the worksheet, they have had strong exposure to the number in its written forms.

This worksheet is dedicated to practicing the spelling of the number word only, with each line offering a model in both lowercase and capitalized forms followed by dotted letters to trace. This repeated practice builds muscle memory and spelling familiarity. When they’re done, children can color the balloon at the top as a reward before moving on to more challenging versions without tracing dots.

This is the next step up once your child has had practice with the simpler pieces earlier in the article. Here, we still have the horizontal gudelines, but the dot-tracing scaffold is removed. Children need to look at the model at the beginning of each line then try to replicate it across the line, maintaining form, size and structure throughout.

On this page, students step up to independently writing the word that represents the number. The words are provided as a model at the beginning of each line, and children must use that model when practicing writing the words independently, with no faint dot letters to assist. You can also encourage your children to color the number and its balloon at the top-right once they have finished.
