Here are some fun facts about the zoo animals in this list:

• Horse – Horses used to be the backbone of farms, but today they have been replaced by machinery. Nonetheless, many farmers still keep them for companionship and a hobby.
• Sheep – We keep sheep on farms for two reasons: meat and wool. We eat their meat (usually lambs), and shave them for their wool which is used on clothes.
• Cow – We keep cows on farms for two reasons, too: meat and milk. Cow milk goes in our drinks and cereal, while cow meat is eaten … we know it as beef.
• Goat – Goats are farmed for their cheese – goat cheese! Yum.
• Hen – Hens are female chickens who are kept for their eggs.
• Rooster – Roosters are mostly kept to breed with the hens, but they could be a farmer’s alarm clock as well!
• Pig – Pigs give us bacon and other cuts of meat.
• Duck – We farm ducks for meat, but you’ll probably also find plenty of wild ducks at a farm, gathered around the waterways.
