These classroom rules charts are designed for you to print, fill-in, and customize as you see fit.

Work with your students in your class to come up with positive and inclusive class rules that help make your classroom a safe and inclusive environment. Then, fill-in the class rules charts with the rules you come up with!

Some recommended class rules to include in your charts include:

• Safety: Focus on promoting safe behaviors by setting rules such as “walking only in the classroom”, “wait for the teacher before entering the room”, and “wear covered shoes in the lab at all times”.
• High Expectations: Set rules around doing your best, with a focus on putting maximum effort into everything you do, focusing on personal best rather than perfection, or striving to be the best version of yourself.
• Respect and Kindness: This category of rules revolve around creating a peaceful, happy, inclusive, and welcoming classroom. Rules might include “thank people who helped you”, “seek ways to help others every day”, or “find ways to make others have a great day!”
• Maturity: Your rules might focus on students demonstrating maturity and professionalism, such as listening to the person who is speaking or maintaining focus on the tasks at hand, at all times.
• Cleanliness: You may also want to set rules around making sure a student’s space is kept clean and tidy at all times, which brings us back to safety – cleanliness is about making sure people don’t trip on anything! But it’s also about making sure students can access their books and pens at all times and are generally organized, which is conducive to good working practices.

That’s just a shortlist of the many hundreds of different rules you could come up with. It all depends on the age of your students, the class dynamic, the subjects you study, and so on.

When you print these charts, make sure you select the “shrink to fit” option to ensure no parts of the sheets are cut-off.
